Meet Our Pet Surgeon

Dr. Kelli Sanders is a skilled pet surgeon with expertise in dog and cat soft tissue and dog and cat orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Sanders studied Microbiology at the Eastern New Mexico University.  She graduated from the College of Biomedical Science and Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 2000.

While studying veterinary medicine, she tracked mixed animals and developed an emphasis in small animal surgery. She studied under some of the most world renowned veterinarians in the field at that time such as Dr. Wayne McIlwraith, Dr. Michael Lappin and Dr. Ted Stashak and learned everything from the basics to the extreme in pet surgical procedures as well as medical procedures.

Dr. Sanders was welcomed as a part of our team at Shores Animal Hospital in Gainesville in November 2015.  She is our primary pet surgeon and performs soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.

Before/During/After Your Pet's Surgery

Before your pet's surgery, we need to perform diagnostic testing.  With our in-house laboratory and tools, your pet’s test results can be completed quickly and accurately. Throughout the surgery, your pet’s vital signs will be monitored while they are anesthetized. Our staff will monitor heart rate and respiratory activity to ensure all vitals are normal and stable during the operation.

We provide the necessary care and monitoring after your pet's surgery has ended. It is important to make sure the surgical site heals without incident, and we will schedule follow-up appointments to ensure your pet is making a smooth recovery.

Questions about the cost of your pet surgery?  Shores Animal Hospital prides itself on offering top quality pet surgeries at an affordable cost for Gainesville pet owners.  We can provide estimates and treatment plan costs for pet surgeries and hospitalization.  We offer payment options and financing options such as CareCredit to help you with the cost of pet surgeries

Dr. Sanders - Alachua County Humane Society

She recently performed a pro bono leg amputation on Red, a stray dog brought into the Alachua County Humane Society with a leg injury that was not allowed to heal.  Dr. Sanders successfully removed Red’s right front leg to lessen his pain and improve his quality of life.  Red was then adopted into a loving forever home and his adopter and Alachua County Humane Society are grateful for Dr. Sanders' skill and Shores Animal Hospital’s willingness to provide this service at no cost.
